[GM]: Setting:  The party has just been awakened abruptly and was delievered a warning by 
a Gobin Mage not to enter the Marshland with the relic carried by one of their members.  
He said that it could "upset the power that exists there".  The party gets ready to make 
their next move.  It is just after dawn (7am) on the 5th of Methorah (a.k.a Bright 
Thursday) in the Summer of 1133p as we BEGIN SESSION 61.
[GM]: Anne eats her breakfast without saying a word.
[GM]: Lydia is quiet as well.
[GM]: The Elven man known as Peshida sits away from the party.
Jamison looks at Anne..."I think we both know what the warning is about..."
[GM]: Jackdaw yawns and sits up "Why everybodies look sad?"
[Jamison]: Do you know of a church or shrine in the area?
Valek drinks more of the pear juce, evidently finding more then adaquate sustinace in it
Phinnea munches on her breakfast, "yeah, it means we dont bring dat relic much further, 
right?"
[GM]: Anne looks to Jamison and attempts a smile, "We don't know that for sure.  The 
warning could be about the Egg"
[GM]: Anne looks at Phinny "Phinnea, the warning could have been against the sword that 
Jamison carries."
[Jamison]: Either way... I do not intend on taking this out of the country.  I should have 
taken care of it in Baxter, but somehow  got sidetracked and forgot....
Jamison smiles mischiviously..."Hard to believe I could forget such a thing.."
Phinnea grins, "hard alright...almost impossible."
[GM]: Anne "Jamison, I know that you might not feel comfortable speaking about it in front 
of everyone .... but why in Ral's name .... (she takes a deep breath)  Why did we not give 
it to the King as we had discussed?"
[Phinnea]: "busy dat thing, I say. We'll get it on the way back."
[Jamison]: Do you know of such a place that may be safe for awhile?
[Phinnea]: (busy = bury)
[GM]: Anne thinks about Jamison's question.

[Valek]: "I may know of a safe place."
Jamison looks at Valek...."Where would that be?"
[Valek]: "I will tell you tonight if it is a possiblility."
[GM]: Anne "Jamison, I have heard that there are Churches and Shrines near the Northern 
border, but I know of none of these by name"
[Jamison]: Is it somewhere on our way?
[Valek]: "I have enlisted the help of a creature which is currently ferrying a letter to 
my sister for me."
[GM]: Anne looks suprised at Valek's suggestion, "You know of a way?"
[Valek]: "It could carry the sword."
[Jamison]: How would we get it back?
[Valek]: "To wherever you wish."
[Valek]: "Either the same way it left here, or by going to the dropoff point."
[GM]: Thor rouses himself.  He looks around (having slept throught the entire night, 
undisturbed) "What is going on here?  What is this talk of the sword?"
Jamison looks at Anne.."Maybe it could carry the sword to your quarters at the church, or 
maybe to the head of the church ??
[Phinnea]: "Some goblin says dat da sword will bring us danger if we carry it much 
further." She says to Thor.
[GM]: Anne "Jamison, I don't think you understand what I am saying.  What right do we have 
to hold such a sword?  Shouldn't it be given to the King at once?"
[Phinnea]: "But I never trusted a goblin's word, so why should I start now?"
[Valek]: "Well it could be anything magical that were carrying.  Though the sword is the 
safest bet."
[GM]: Thor looks at Phinnea "You mean .. THE sword?  I thought we got rid of that 
already?"
[Jamison]: Though I must admit... I would have trouble trusting any creature to carry this 
away and not have anyway to verify that it got to it's destination.
Phinnea scowls, "seems like our knightly Jamison forgot he had it."
[Valek]: "Once I give the bat it's orders it will carry them out until it's destruction, 
and even that will not be easy."
[GM]: Thor "Jamison?  How could you forget such a thing?"
[Jamison]: I was and am unsure of who is the rightful owner of the sword... Is it an 
heirloom of the kingdom or does it belong to the banished Baron?
[GM]: Thor scratches his head, "So, you are thinking of giving it the Baron?" he looks at 
Anne
Valek looks evenly at Phinnea "Shaeavaloc <Or whatever his name was> was a mage, a 
powerful one.  He can be trusted to want to protect his people."
[GM]: Anne shruggs her shoulders, "It is a national treasure and belongs to the people ... 
of whom the King is the leader."
(Jamison whispered to GM): Jamison tries detect lies on Valek to see if he speaks the 
truth..
[GM]: ((Shaeloffic - Goblin Mage))
[Valek]: <There we go, I rememberd Shael>
Phinnea snorts, "ok, so he's powerful. Dat mean I gotta trust him?"
(GM whispered to Jamison): roll
[Valek]: "YOu don't have to turst him, simply trust that he wishes no harm to come to his 
people.  If he says that the sword will cause a problem, then we at least know it will 
cause a problem to his people."
(To GM) DICE for Jamison: (3d6) : 3d6=5,3,3  = [ 11 ]
[Valek]: "And since goblins are generally the last to be involved in any conflict, we can 
assume that the entire area would be in ruins first."
(Jamison whispered to GM): miss by 1
(GM whispered to Jamison): You think he might be not telling the whole truth, but you have 
no way of knowing.
[Valek]: "Hence we can trust the Shaeloffic's word on this issue."
Phinnea seems unconvinced, but clenches her jaw closed stubbornly.
[Jamison]: If all are in agreement that it should go to the King.. then I would wish to 
find a safe place for the sword for now and return it to the King upon our return...
[Phinnea]: "With some work, I could hide it well with a powerful illusion, here in the 
woods."
[GM]: Thor to Phinnea "Doesn't a mage have to be around to keep such a spell going?"
[Jamison]: What kind of illusion is that Phinney?
[Phinnea]: "Me uncle has told me of some permanent illusions, but I've never cast one 
meself."
[Valek]: "The only problem with an illusion is that it's a hallmark to outher mages."
(Phinnea whispered to GM): There is such a thing, no?
(GM whispered to Phinnea): Of course
[Jamison]: I agree.. let's find a Church of Ral... I feel most comfortable with the sword 
being in the Church's hand for the time being...
Phinnea shrugs, "Just an idea..."
Jamison looks to Anne... "You say there maybe a church towards the border?"
[GM]: Anne "I agree.  Let us find a Church and leave it there.  I am sure that we will 
pass near one on our way to the border."
[Valek]: "So be it."
Jamison nods in agreement...."And that will take care of the Goblin mages concerns also."
[GM]: Anne stands, "The sun is already rising.  I think we should be on our way"
Valek looks at Lydia "I do not belive it is so, but just to be on the safe side, can you 
also leave the egg with the church Lydia?"
Phinnea clambers to her feet, "aye, it is time to move, although me bones are a bit 
stiff!"
[GM]: Lydia looks up startled, "I ... I ... I don't know anything about ..the Church."
[GM]: Lydia "If this is truely what I think it is (holding up the Egg) I don't dare let 
it out of my sight"
(Phinnea whispered to GM): have i noticed the egg to be magical?
Jamison raises an eye...."Unfamiliar with the Church of Ral...??"
(GM whispered to Phinnea): Yes, it does have a magical aura, although you have no idea of 
what type of magic.
Valek shurgs and drops the topic.
[GM]: Lydia looks at Jamison as serious as she can be, "There are no Churches of Ral where 
I come from"
[GM]: Anne sighs and begins walking toward her horse.
Phinnea giggles at Lydia's serious expression. "Relax, girl! It'll all be alright!"
[Jamison]: I'm sorry to hear that Lydia... but, maybe, as we travel, you would care to 
learn a little more..?
Jamison leads Lydia to her horse and then goes to his own...."Time to travel, ow."
[GM]: Lydia "Where I come from the Clerics are politicians, not to be trusted.  Of course, 
I am pretty sure that they have no real faith ... or power.  It is different here."
[Jamison]: ow=now
[GM]: ((Lydia says above to Jamison))
[GM]: Soon the party is mounted and breaks camp
Jamison continues talking with Lydia and brings Anne into the conversation to help educate 
Lydia
[GM]: Travel along the Old Mage's Web is smooth and monotonous.  After about an hour of 
travel the party passes another party of Dwarves: 6 Dwarves piloting a rather large wagon.
[GM]: The Dwarves are heading South towards Baxter.
Phinnea hails the dwarves with a wave.
[GM]: The Driver hails Phinnea back and slows the wagon.
[Phinnea]: "Greetings! Going to Baxter, are ya?"
[GM]: The other Dwarves tighten their grips on their axes and look at the party with 
suspicion.
Jamison eyes the wagon and the surrounding countryside.
[GM]: The Driver "Aye, we be heading to Baxter." (pulling the wagon to a stop)
[GM]: The bed of the wagon is covered with a tarp.
(Valek whispered to GM): can we assume I levitated myself and turded behind the horse 
again?
(Valek whispered to GM): or do you want me to roll?
(GM whispered to Valek): We shall assume it.
[Phinnea]: "Just came from there, it aint far from here now. What's in the wagon, if I 
may ask of ye?"
[Phinnea]: :'s curiousity may get her in trouble sometimes.
[GM]: The Dwarve sitting beside the Driver speaks to Phinnea in Dwarven "G'novic Sletch

Valek levitates nearer to the ground so it dosen't look quite as odd.
(GM whispered to Phinnea): You need to roll, I guess

Phinnea nods knowingly. "Ahh, Mother earth is fair to thsoe dat work it hard, I say!"

[GM]: The Driver "Aye!"
Valek furrows his brow at that one, but says nothing.
[GM]: The other Dwarves begin to laugh and tap their axe handles.
(GM whispered to Phinnea): You think you can smell the gold in the wagon.
(Phinnea whispered to GM): :wrinkles her nose in interest. "And it seems sometimes she's 
overly fair, no?" She grins.

[GM]: The Driver to Phinny in Human "And might I ask ye where ye be going without a proper 
Dwarven escort?"
[GM]: The Driver "Aye, fair she is indeed sometimes"
[Phinnea]: "Escort? Dis area requires an escort? What dangers lie here?"
[Phinnea]: "other than some Goblins, we've seen no-one except yourselves."
[GM]: A Dwarf from the rear of the Wagon in (very poor) Human "Iss Stinzs of da blasted 
Goblin!"
[GM]: The other Dwarves nod at his comment
Valek frowns and flicks his ears, but still says nothing.
[Phinnea]: "bah, he was harmless enough, although he warned us of upsetting the balance."
[GM]: The Driver "We encountered more than 3 score of dem last night.  Dey ver after our 
... cargo."
[Phinnea]: "you fought?"
[GM]: The Driver "Nay, they kept der distance cause dey no vats good fer dem!"
[GM]: Other Dwarves "Ya Ya hehehe"
(Valek whispered to GM): **Valek is curious, mind reading: what is the 'cargo'.

Phinnea laughs hard. "Yep, tis true."

[Phinnea]: "Any churches near here?"
(GM whispered to Valek): The cargo is raw gold and other precious metals.
Valek snickers slighly, but then seems to remember something else and simply nods to 
himself
[GM]: The Driver "Vat you speak of Church?  You mean da Human Church?"
(Valek whispered to GM): being a member of a marxasist society the only aplication of 
gold and outher precious metals is for magical enchantment.
[GM]: The Driver "The mountain is da true Church!"
(Valek whispered to GM): but then he rememberd that outher races use it as currency.
Phinnea nods. "We are looking for da human Church of Ral, for me friend Anne here, a 
sister of da church."
[GM]: Anne smiles and nods, "Yes, good sir.  We ask you aid in finding a Church of Ral"
[GM]: The Driver "Der be a village just fore the Shevan River vith name ov Green Meadows.  
It has dat Church!" he smiles and nods.
Phinnea thanks the driver and tilts her head towards the dwarf in the wagon. "Da one in da 
wagon, is he hurt?"
[GM]: The Driver tips his helm at Phinny
[GM]: The wagon continues on its way
[GM]: The Driver "A good day to you all"
Phinnea shrugs, waving to the dwarves as they leave. "May your shovel find jewels on every 
dig!"
[GM]: A few of the Dwarves eye Valek closely as they pass the party
Valek bows.
[GM]: The Dwarves taps the handle of their Axes "Aye Aye!!"
Phinnea turns to Anne, "Seems like der is a Church nearby. We are in luck."
[GM]: Anne turns to Jamison "Any idea how far the River is from here?"
[Jamison]: Well done Phinney.. let's get to this town of the green meadows...
[Phinnea]: "Aye, tis dis way, along the Shevan River here."
(Jamison whispered to GM): Roll dice to see if I know?
(GM whispered to Jamison): Do you have any Area Knowledges?
(Jamison whispered to GM): nope...
(Valek whispered to GM): Seeker: Town of Green Meadows

Valek closes his eyes for a moment.

[Jamison]: I'm not sure how far the river is from here, Anne
[Phinnea]: ((phone call, brb)
(GM whispered to Valek): And -5 for not having knowledge or something that belongs to 
Green Meadows.
(GM whispered to Valek): You pay the price for the spell, but get no help from it.  Only 
a tugging in the direction of the Old Mage's Web, but no idea of how far.
(Valek whispered to GM): ok.
[GM]: Thor "Then we had best be on our way"
[GM]: The party continues
Valek levitates behind the horse still tied to it with the silk rope and reads the scroll 
over and over, mumbeling to himself and ocassionally taking out his notebook and jotting 
down a few things.
[GM]: The party passes a signpost about an hour after they met the Dwarves.  It reads:
[GM]: Green Meadows (pointing NorthEast)  Baxter (Pointing SouthWest)  Grullic (Pointing 
East)
[Jamison]: Well, I believe that we need to go this way....
Jamison points to the NE
[GM]: Thor nods and picks back up the pace.
Valek looks up at the sign momentarily and nods in agreement with Jamison
Jamison reins his horse in the direction of Green Meadows..
[GM]: The party continues on for the rest of the Day.  They pass 4 other groups of 
travellers going SW.  3 of them appear to be Human and wearing hoods and cloaks.  The 
4th are a party of Elves.
Valek will have landed for the first party and made a pretence of riding the horse, but 
not for the second two: apparantly out of sloth.
[GM]: The Elves begin to greet the party, but then sneer in Peshida's direction when 
they catch sight of him.  They say something in Elven and leave.
(Valek whispered to GM): Valek also speaks elf at skill 17.
Jamison looks at Peshida.."What was that all about?"
(GM whispered to Valek): They simply say Pesh'Ida meaning "The one who bears the Curse"
[GM]: Peshida "It is of no consequence"
Valek furrows his brow but as usual says nothign.
[Jamison]: But this seems to happen to you alot... why is that???
[Phinnea]: ((b))
[GM]: The Humans all look dangerous and make you all want to check your pouches.  You are 
all relieved when they pass and continue on their ways.
[GM]: Peshida "It is the way of things.  A burden I must bear"
[Phinnea]: "Elven ways are strange,  Jamison. Dey make no sense and are often not social."
[GM]: Peshida says no more.
[Jamison]: They seem to be about to greet us before the saw our friend here... I was just 
curious..
[GM]: Soon the sun begins to sit and there has been no sign of "Green Meadows" except for 
anther sign passed on the Web.
[Phinnea]: ((Does Peshida have some marking on his face?))

[Valek]: "Perhaps that is best, I do not wish to sound paranoid, but did anyone else 
notice the rider on horseback behind us?"
Phinnea looks about herself cautiously. "I dink we are being followed also. But I have 
lost sight of him."
[Valek]: "Whoever they are, they do not want us to see them."
[Phinnea]: "Aye, on horseback."
Jamison looks back but sees nothing

(GM whispered to Phinnea): Actually a couple of hundred yards to the East of you, just 
slightly behind you...

Phinnea shrugs. "Someone who wishes not to be seen is following us. Dey are probably not 
trying to help us."
(GM whispered to Jamison): One spot is the same as the other for camping to you.
[GM]: How long before the party stops to set up camp?
[Jamison]: the ground seems flat and dry.. I guess we could stop anywhere's here...
Phinnea peers in the direction of Green Meadows.
[GM]: There is no sign of anything but road.
(Valek whispered to GM): he spent the entire ride studying, dose that put him over the 
minimum required to flash learn the spell?  <simply because he'd start learning another 
one then.>
Phinnea eyes the low sun in the sky. "Tis best we stop soon." She looks about for a good 
spot.
(GM whispered to Valek): How many hours has he devoted?
[Jamison]: should we stop here and rest the horses?
(Valek whispered to GM): more then 20 now
Phinnea nods. "Sure!"
(Valek whispered to GM): 4 hours in the town, 4 hours at the first campsite, the entire 
trip to there first campsite, and now the entire trip here <Not sure on the times for 
that>
Jamison dismounts and begins the ritual known as making camp...
(GM whispered to Valek): Yes, I would say 4+4+6+6=20 ... just enough to apply knowledge.
[GM]: Soon camp is set up, just as the Sun touches the horizon.

Phinnea follows suit, keeping a sideway glance at her surroundings.

to the East, trying to stay out of sight.  A Human riding a horse, it seems.

(GM whispered to Valek): You also observe that he is wearing clothes made of silk, with a 
covering for the face.  Loose-fitting and carrying a long curved sword.  The silks appear 
light green.
Phinnea whispers to the others without making it obvious. "Der he is again. 300 yards 
east. Human, on a horse."
(GM whispered to Valek): You also notice him carrying an unusual sword.  Curved and thin.  
Not a Broadsword.
Valek flicks his ears a the comming night "I have seen our days riding companion again, 
he is no more then 300 meters to the east."
[GM]: As soon as Phinnea says that, he is gone and no one catchs sight of him.

Phinnea furrows her brow. "hrrmmm, dat is strange. He cant have heard me, could he?"
(GM whispered to Valek): The horse he road was a very beautiful animal.  Long flowing 
mane .. and it was braided.
(GM whispered to Valek): Braided in certain spots that is.
[Jamison]: Who heard you Phinney??
[Phinnea]: "Da human on da horse. As soon as I spoke of him, he disappeared."
[Valek]: "Also he seems to be a master groomer, his horse had braided hair and was in 
excelent condition, something that seems to require a great deal of effort."
[Jamison]: Green silks and a curved sword...hmmm
[Phinnea]: "Does that remind you of anyone, Jamison? Anne?"
Jamison looks at Anne..."Any ideas of who it might be?"
(Phinnea whispered to GM): when we researched Veridon, did we see any pictures of such a 
person?
[GM]: Anne shakes her head, "I don't think I have ever seen green silks.  What was that 
about a curved sword?"
(GM whispered to Phinnea): No
[GM]: Soon camp is set up.
(Valek whispered to GM): Perfect illusion, a replica of the sword.
[Phinnea]: "Do you think he wishes to harm us? JD, I dink you should cast your protective 
charm once again."
[Jamison]: Valek said he or she had a curved sword

(Jamison whispered to GM): Does Jamison recognize the type of sword?

[Valek]: <I'm thinking it looks like a scimatar, or a calvary saber right?>
[Valek]: <Not that Valek knows what either of those are>
[Jamison]: A kantana....well that is interesting... though not necessarily condemning
[Phinnea]: ((is not a katana a short straight blade?))
[Jamison]: no
[GM]: ((It has a slight curve to it))

[Jamison]: Think along the lines of a samari and his sword
(Valek whispered to GM): oops, simple illusion will surfice since it makes no sound.

[GM]: Thor inspects the sword, "So, what do you make that that Jamison?"
[Valek]: <I thought it was not a katana?>
[Jamison]: Well.. it could be some type of guard that I am unaware of... or, the kantana 
has been know to be favored by assassins...
[GM]: ((No, what Valek produced cannot be mistaken for a katana))
[Valek]: <Dose it resemble <OOC> a scimatar, or a calvarly saber?>

Phinnea shrugs. "Hail, stranger! Show ya self!" She calls out into the darkening shadows.

Phinnea turns her horse back to the campsite and heads back.

Valek opens his eyes and sighs "My sister must be getting worried."
[GM]: Phinnea feels a little uneasy about entering the mist that she believes to be the 
campsite.

Phinny attempts to enter the mist, although she has strange feelings.

Phinny climbs off the horse, leaving it tied outside. 
[GM]: Phinny manages to catch a glimpse of the campsite but it is as if the party is 
fading in and out in a type of shimmering.
Phinny heads towards whats she thinks is the campsite.

confused.

Phinny nods, wiping her brow. "Saw nuffin out der though."

Phinny frowns, but figures he knows what he's doing.

Phinny sits down beside the fire and warms some rations.
[Jamison]: I'll take first watch..... we'll find the horse tomorrow..
[Valek]: "I will do a scout then, I'll look for the man on the horse, and then find your 
horse."
[GM]: Thor "Jamison, what do you suggest we do about the horse?"
[GM]: Thor nods to Jamison
[Phinny]: "Its pretty dark now, Valek. May want to wait until daylight."
Valek looks up his eyes now glowing like dying embers in the dark of the night "I see 
better in the darkness then in the light."
[GM]: Valek goes out alone.  Jamison takes first watch and everyone else sleeps?
[Jamison]: Well, Valek does not really sit on his horse... we can put phinney there and 
just drag Valek along.. if that's ok with him.
[Valek]: "Before I go, do you have anything from the horse, hair, it's bridel?"
[Valek]: "It makes the spellcasting easier."
[Jamison]: How about the smell of the horse... I'm sure Phinney has plenty of that...
Phinny brushes some horse hair from her thighs. "Will dat do?"
[Valek]: "Hairs will do nicely."
Valek takes them "I'll return eventually."
Phinny frowns at Jamison. "Phinny dont smell like no horse!"
Valek walks into the dark, adjusting his robes to cover his head.
Phinny lies down beside the fire. "Wake me when its me turn."
Valek walks to where he saw the horseman.

Civilization began to crumble from the impact of the Kelliac invasion, civilization 
took to horseback. Those who survived fled to secluded areas of The Silver Desert, 
Pindoor Forest, and The Badlands. Over the next two thousand years the knowledge and 
customs of The Golden Age became the closely guarded secrets of the benoi. As the war 
began to wane, most of the benoi began to settle down in areas like Shevandale Village 
or Lake Braddock and take up farming or fishing, but some of them continued their nomadic 
way of life. It was chiefly due to two benoi clans that civilization experienced a 
resurection. The sagio benoi produced an entire library of magical wisdom restoring magery 
from The Golden Age, and the Sac'pyrus Benoi produced a set of tomes restoring the

Valek gestrues with his hand and approaches the man's camp.

Valek looks "Are those Taroug roots?  and wild bel-taka mushroom?"

[Valek]: "I have missed these subsiding on what my companions eat."

Valek takes some of the mushrooms and roots and eats them slowly
[GM]: The horse approachs Valek, looking him over closely
[Valek]: "Well if he is the orriginal Veridon then he is more then powerful enough to be 
able to keep himself alive all this time."
(GM whispered to Valek): Oh yeah.  His clothes are black now.  Not the green ones you saw 
earlier.
[GM]: As Valek enjoys the roots and mushrooms, Jamison keeps watch on the camp.  The 
others sleep after a long day of travel except for Lydia who sits studying the Egg in 
front of the campfire, not saying a word.  Peshida also sits away from the others 
seemingly watching her.  END SESSION.
[Valek]: "If he is the orriginal Veridon then he is powerful enough to have extended his 
life this long."
[GM]: Okay guys... sorry for running long tonight.
